JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — The White House said Russian officials had visited an airfield in central Iran at least twice in the past few weeks to see drones capable of the weapons they were seeking to acquire for use in its war against Ukraine. The administration released the information just before President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet leaders of six Gulf Arab countries, as well as Egypt, Jordan and Iraq for a regional summit in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Biden seeks to strengthen the American position and to weld the region against Iran. The White House said Iran presented the drones to Russian officials at Kashan airfield on June 8 and July 5.
