Villagers demonstrate outside Mansa Civil Hospital against the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala

A protest took place on Monday outside Mansa Civil Hospital, where Sidhu Moose Wala’s body was kept for post-mortem, demanding action against those responsible for the murder of the Punjabi singer.

The protesters, who were mostly local villagers, also held up slogans against the state’s AAP government for reducing its security coverage. Several markets in Mansa remained closed on Monday.

Inspector General of Police Pradeep Yadav and other officials visited the singer’s home to tell his family members about the autopsy. We learn that Moose Wala’s family did not agree to proceed with the autopsy from now on.

Moose Wala, 28, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district on Sunday, a day after the state government reduced its security coverage. His cousin and a friend, who were traveling with him in a Mahindra Thar jeep, were also injured in the attack.

He had fought in the recent Assembly elections on a Mansa Congress ticket and was beaten by AAP’s Vijay Singla.

Heightened security measures were deployed by the police outside the civilian hospital and barricades were also erected.

A protester said: “We demand action against those behind the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala.

Punjab Congress Leader Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and other Congress leaders reached Moose Wala’s residence in Mansa and offered condolences on his death.

A large number of supporters and villagers also gathered at his residence.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered for the murder of Moose Wala following the complaint of his father Balkaur Singh.

The Punjab Police characterized Moose Wala’s murder as the result of a gang rivalry and blamed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for it.

At least three weapons, one of which was 9mm caliber, were used and 30 empty holsters were recovered from the site.

Leaders of Congress and other political parties expressed shock and anger at the killing and blamed the AAP government for the incident. A three-member special investigation team has already been set up to investigate the murder.
