At least 16 civilians have been killed after Russia launched attacks on Ukrainian towns across the country.
Urban areas were hit by Russian strikes on Saturday, leaving a trail of destruction behind.
This included Chuhuiv, a town in the northeast region of Kharkiv. Local officials said three people – including a 70-year-old woman – had been killed in a pre-dawn rocket strike.
The deputy chief of the Kharkiv regional police said the rockets partly destroyed a two-story apartment building, a school and administrative buildings.
Residents were seen digging through the rubble for documents, while other footage showed a huge crater in the ground outside the damaged school.
Further south, two bodies were pulled from the rubble after rockets fell on the town of Nikopol on the Dnipro on Saturday.
Footage showed a hole being dug in the top of a building and firefighters clearing masses of rubble after the strike.
They were the latest in a series of bombardments which Kyiv says have killed dozens of people in recent days.
In the besieged eastern region of Donetsk, seven civilians have been killed and 14 injured in the past 24 hours in attacks on towns, its governor said on Saturday.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed that it had ordered military units to step up operations to prevent strikes in eastern Ukraine and other territories under its control.
The Russian military campaign has focused on Donbass, which includes Donetsk and Luhansk regions in southeastern Ukraine.
But his forces have attacked other parts of the country in an unrelenting push to fight Ukraine’s territory and crush the morale of its leaders, troops and civilians.
The strike on Nikipol came just hours after Russian shelling hit the city of Dnipro, also in the Dnipropetrovsk region. At least three people were reportedly killed in this attack.
In the Sumy region, officials said one civilian was killed and at least seven others injured after the Russians opened mortar and artillery fire on three towns and villages not far from the Russian border.
On Thursday, Kalibr cruise missiles launched from a Russian submarine in the Black Sea hit an office building in Vinnytsia, a town southwest of Kyiv.
Ukrainian officials said the strike killed at least 23 people, with President Volodymyr Zelensky calling it an “open act of terror”.
It was the deadliest strike in these bombarded cities in recent days.
Russia has repeatedly denied targeting civilian areas, despite mounting evidence that its missiles hit residential areas across the country.
The United Nations estimates that thousands of civilians have been killed since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
