Twitter will provide Elon Musk with full fake user data, report says

Elon Musk’s proposed takeover of Twitter has had its fair share of twists and turns. The $44 billion deal reportedly went through, but in a stunning twist Musk decided not to go along with it as he claimed a large percentage of the social networking site’s users were fake. After weeks of uncertainty, the Washington Post reported that Twitter’s board was ready to share its internal data with Musk to end any confusion about fake users. The source confirmed that the huge amount of data provided to Musk will include more than 500 million tweets posted every day.

The report claims that the data provided to Musk will include the tweets, data about the devices the tweet was sent from as well as additional account information.

Data access is seen as a big step towards finally coming to an understanding of the Twitter takeover. Musk has decided to put the deal on hold until he has concrete information about the fake users, which may finally force him to finalize the takeover.

Earlier, Musk’s lawyers complained about the lack of transparency on Twitter’s side, but the move will allow Tesla’s CEO to inspect the data closely to understand the presence of fake users.

“Twitter has and will continue to cooperatively share information with Mr. Musk to complete the transaction in accordance with the terms of the merger agreement. We believe this agreement is in the best interest of all shareholders. We intend to complete the transaction and enforce the merger agreement at the agreed-upon price and terms,” reads Twitter’s official statement.
