Russia said on Wednesday (June 15) it had destroyed an ammunition warehouse for weapons in the Lviv region of western Ukraine. The weapons were reportedly donated by NATO countries. The Russian Defense Ministry said part of the ammunition was to be used for US-produced M777 howitzers, a type of artillery weapon.

In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry said: “Near the city of Zolochiv in the Lviv region, long-range high-precision Kalibr missiles destroyed a depot of ammunition of foreign weapons transferred to Ukraine by NATO countries, including M777 155 mm howitzers.

Recently, Russia claimed to have targeted weapons in Ukraine, which were allegedly supplied by the West. Moscow also claimed to have destroyed these arms depots.

Russia has consistently criticized the West for supplying arms to Ukraine and accused NATO countries of aggravating the crisis.

Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the United States that Russia would hit new targets if the West supplied longer-range missiles to Ukraine for use in high-precision mobile rocket systems.

Meanwhile, Ukraine said on Tuesday it had received only 10% of the weapons it requested from the West to deter military intervention from Russia.

UK to deliver rocket launchers

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said on Wednesday Britain would soon deliver multiple launch rocket systems to Ukraine. London announced on June 6 that it would send its guided multiple-launch rocket system, which has better range and accuracy than Russian artillery, to Ukraine.

“I think it’s imminent, their delivery, and the ammunition has to go together,” Wallace told reporters in Oslo on the sidelines of a meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force of 10 northern European countries.
