Rice loses House seat after impeaching Trump; Mace holds on

CHARLESTON, SC (AP) — U.S. Representative Tom Rice of South Carolina was ousted from Congress in his Republican primary after voting to impeach Donald Trump in the Jan. 6 uprising.

He is the first of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for losing a re-election bid.

The five-term congressman was defeated Tuesday by state Rep. Russell Fry, who was endorsed by Trump.

Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina won her GOP primary, beating a Trump-backed challenger. Mace didn’t vote to impeach Trump, but she was critical
actions of the former president in relation to January 6.

Trump congratulated her on Tuesday night and predicted she would win in November.
