Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced the establishment of a Judicial Commission under the chairmanship of a sitting Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to investigate the murder case of the famous singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, better known as Sidhu Moose Wala.
The Chief Minister, while granting the request of Balkar Singh Sidhu, the father of the slain singer, said the state government will request the Chief Justice of the High Court to have the matter investigated by a judge in exercise.
Mann said the state government will ensure full cooperation with this commission of inquiry, including the intervention of one of the central agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
He further asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to provide clarification regarding his Sunday press conference regarding the incident.
Condemning the horrific murder of Moose Wala, the Chief Minister said unequivocally that the government would spare no effort to put the perpetrators of this heinous crime behind bars.
Mann said he has already instructed police to investigate the case thoroughly in a quick and results-oriented manner. The Chief Minister has stated categorically that all aspects of the reduced safety of the late singer are also under review and responsibility for the failure, if any, will be finally fixed.
Meanwhile, expressing his deep shock and grief over Moose Wala’s passing, the Chief Minister said the late singer was a famous entertainer and cultural icon of Punjab.
Mann said he has deep esteem for the deceased soul, adding that the state government stands firmly with the injured family in this hour of mourning.
He shared his condolences with the family and prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the soul of the deceased and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
Less than 24 hours after his safety was restricted by the government, singer-turned-actor and politician Moose Wala, with a huge fan base numbering in the millions, was gunned down by mobsters near his ancestral village in Mansa in broad daylight Sunday. . He was 29 years old.
He was driving a Mahindra Thar SUV when the attackers, believed to be 10-12 years old, fired more than 20 shots at close range at the singer and his two friends, who were seriously injured. Moose Wala got seven-eight balls.
Moose Wala was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Civil Surgeon at Mansa Hospital said Moose Wala was brought in dead, while the other two were transferred to another hospital for treatment.
The incident came a day after Punjab police ordered the removal of more than 420 people from security, including former legislators, Jathedars of two Takhts, dera leaders and police officers.

Two of his four gunmen were removed with the new government order. Moose Wala was without security when the crime happened.
