Partygate scandal: texts related to Carrie Johnson’s lockdown party will be published?

Text messages from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s wife, Carrie, linked to a potential coronavirus (COVID-19) rule-breaking event at Downing Street flat could be published, The Sunday Times reports May 29 . The report adds that there is apparently evidence that Carrie organized a rally on June 19, 2020 for the PM’s 56th birthday. The Johnson government has come under fire for hosting wine-filled parties in Downing Street when such gatherings were banned across the country during the lockdown.

The event allegedly organized by Carrie was not investigated by the Sue Gray investigation, nor is it part of the published report. Meanwhile, Labor has called for an investigation. Deputy party leader Angela Rayner urged Mr Johnson to “be clear”.

On June 19, 2020, up to 30 employees reportedly attended a party in Downing Street for Johnson’s birthday. Meanwhile, social gatherings were only allowed between six people outdoors.

As the photos show, the country’s finance minister, Rishi Sunak, was also present. The event apparently lasted from 2:25 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. “for the duration of the Prime Minister’s presence”. He, Sunak and Carrie were all fined for the event by the Metropolitan Police in London.
