After facing criticism for expressing his condolences over the death of ‘non-Muslim’ Indian singer Sidhu Moose Wala, Pakistani singer Shae Gill has hit back at the trolls, according to media reports. Gill said she was from a Christian family and could “pray for people of different religions.” While expressing his grief over the tragic death of Moose Wala, Shae Gill, in an Instagram post, said earlier, “Heartbroken. May his soul rest in peace and may his family and friends have the strength to endure. this loss.” The gesture of “doing dua” for a non-Muslim does not seem to have pleased some users of the platform. She was criticized for this.

The Lahore-based singer also posted screenshots of some replies on Instagram story and said, “I got a lot of messages like this. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am not not a Muslim. I am a Christian and I belong to a Christian family and can offer prayers for people of different religions.”
“If you send me messages like this you’re blocked,” she added, while saying that she usually checks her DMs to stay in touch with her fans.
Gill has also received a lot of love and support from fans. She added that she is now receiving many heartwarming messages. “Honestly, I wouldn’t have advertised it like that, but I just got fed up with people believing they could control me to that standard,” the singer said. She had drawn attention for her participation in Coke Studio’s Season 14 song “Pasoori.”
