MS Dhoni in legal trouble as FIR files case against former India captain in Bihar

Former Indian cricket team skipper MS Dhoni has been named in an FIR filed in Begusarai of Bihar in relation to an NSF check given by New Global Produce India Limited. Dhoni, who promoted New Global Produce India Limited in the past, was named in the FIR along with seven others and the Begusarai CJM court, the bounced check was worth Rs 3 million. The initial court hearing took place on Monday before Magistrate Ajay Kumar Mishra, with the next hearing scheduled for June 28. However, Dhoni has yet to be summoned for the case.

The check was made payable to SK Enterprises after an order for fertilizer worth Rs 3 million. However, most of the products remained unsold and NGPIL gave them the check as compensation. Later, the check given by NGPIL bounced after being submitted to the bank and this resulted in the FIR.

Neeraj Kumar Nirala, owner of SK Enterprises, then registered the FIR against Dhoni and seven others after payment was not made. But the company did not respond to the legal notice.

Dhoni has just finished representing Chennai Super Kings in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman did not have a good outing with his team finishing the tournament bottom of the points table. Dhoni stepped down as captain ahead of the new season but had to return to the position after Ravindra Jadeja resigned.
