(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said Sunday the reason House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) didn’t call the National Guard on Jan. 6 is because of the Democrats’ position on police funding.

Jordan said last week’s January 6 prime-time hearing didn’t explain why the US Capitol was so vulnerable and why frontline cops didn’t know the violence was coming.

“Yeah, Maria, you’re right, we didn’t learn the answer to that question in the hearing the other night, and only one person can really answer that question.” He’s the Speaker of the House, and guess what? the congressman told “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“The chair of this committee, Bennie Thompson, said she was off limits. He’s not going to ask her anything. He’s not going to call her. They’re not going to drop her, but she’s the one who was offered the White House National Guard,” Jordan said.

“We know that. We’ve had countless people tell us that. President Trump said if you need the National Guard there that day, they’re available. She didn’t accepted that offer, because according to correspondence, according to testimony we had received and media reports, I should say, the Sergeant-at-Arms says the president’s office didn’t like the optics of that, and you know why didn’t they like the optics?” he said.

“Because you can never forget the context here. In the summer of 2020 they called rioters and looters peaceful protesters all summer long and so with that as a backdrop and that as a frame it’s kinda hard so January 6th to say, you know what ? We want more law enforcement. We want the National Guard to protect the Capitol,” Jordan said.

“I think that’s why they haven’t, because of their position on defunding the police and the position they took over the summer of 2020, but one should ask him that question. It’s something that if the American people put it in our hands, we’ll get to the bottom of it and we’ll have an answer,” he said.

Jordan said the American people didn’t learn anything new during last week’s prime-time Congressional hearing on Jan. 6, and instead focused on things like $5 a gallon of water. ‘essence.

“I don’t think we learned anything new. We already knew they wanted to get rid of the Electoral College. They want to make sure Trump can’t run in 2024, and they had the former head of ABC News as a producer, the choreographer of this thing, but I don’t think we learned anything new even with hundreds of witnesses, thousands of hours of testimony, no ability for Republicans to do any type of cross-examination, I still don’t think there’s anything new in this,” did he declare.

“You know, it’s kind of like the home team is playing at home and the referee is on their side, and they still can’t win the game. That was kind of my conclusion, and I think that’s the conclusion of the American people, because they’re focused on the things that you just mentioned,” Jordan said.

“They are focused on $5 gas, high inflation for 41 years, a border that is no longer one, and rising crime in every major urban area of this country,” the congressman said. .

Jordan said if Republicans win a majority in the House in the fall, they will demand to see all depositions and documents available to the Jan. 6 committee.

“Well, we’ll investigate – I want to see all the depositions,” the congressman said.

“I want to see all the documents, and Ranking Member Rodney Davis has already sent a preservation letter to the committee, saying to keep all of this information so we can review it, and the American people can get the whole story, not just this one. We had a choreographed presentation the other night, but when you think about what this committee has done, never in the history of this country, in the history of the House of Representatives, has a minority leader not been able to serve on a select committee the people he or she selected,” he said.

“We also know that this committee altered the evidence and lied about it, so much so that they had to issue a statement saying we regret the government’s error because we were caught lying . So that’s the purpose of this committee. I think the country sees it for what it is, partisan political activity. That’s why the leader and I wrote the op-ed that we published in the Wall Street Journal a few weeks ago,” Jordan said.
