Jonny Bairstow slams 2nd fastest ton by Englishman as ENG chase 299 against NZ, win 2nd Test and series

Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes destroyed New Zealand’s attack as England won the second Test at Trent Bridge by five wickets on Tuesday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series.

England were chasing a tough 299 on the final day to win at Nottingham after clearing the visitors for 284 in their second run. But Bairstow, who arrived after the dismissal of in-form Joe Root, clubbed 136 runs on just 92 balls, reaching the second fastest century in England Test history, on just 77 balls.
