Singer-actress Jennifer Hudson has officially achieved EGOT status. The actress-singer won her first-ever Tony Award on Sunday night as ‘A Strange Loop’ won best musical of the night. Hudson is the show’s producer.
With this victory, she completed her EGOT quartet of winning Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.
Hudson won an Oscar in 2007 for “Dreamgirls,” then won a Grammy in 2009 for her self-titled album. She won another Grammy in the following years and won the Daytime Emmy in 2021 for the animated short “Baba Yoga” which she co-produced and provided her voice.

Hudson once joked when asked about his plans to gain EGOT status, “I should have two more dogs.”
“I had a dog and I named him Oscar, then I won my Oscar. And then I had a dog and I named him Grammy, then I won my Grammy,” he said. she stated at the time. “So I think I should have dogs and name them Emmy and Tony – and that will bring me luck, and I will win. [They’re] like my lucky charms.”
Presented by the Broadway League and the American Theater Wing, the Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theater or the Tony Awards are considered the highest theatrical honor in the United States. It’s the equivalent of the Emmys in television, the Grammys in music or the Oscars in the film industry.
