The gangs were exposed after police launched an undercover operation as they targeted crime members’ phones through an encrypted app named ANOM.

The messages were closely followed by authorities as criminals were tricked into believing the app was secure. Police reportedly charged more than 380 criminals with multiple offences.

Australian police are targeting Italian criminal gangs with the help of Brazilian, Italian, American and Spanish authorities.
