Rudy Giuliani said he was “disgusted and outraged” at accusations aired during Monday’s House hearing into the Jan. 6 inquiry that he was “drunk” when he urged the then-president, Donald Trump, to claim victory on election night in 2020.
“I am disgusted and outraged by the outright lie of Jason Miller and Bill Steppien [sic]. I was upset that they weren’t prepared for massive cheating (as well as other lawyers around the president). I REFUSED all alcohol that night. My favorite drink… Diet Pepsi,” the former mayor posted on Twitter Tuesday, misspelling of Stepien’s name.
“Is Miller and Steppien’s false testimony because I yelled at them?” Are they paid to lie? he suggested in social media posting.
In his recorded deposition, released during Monday’s hearing, Miller, then a Trump campaign strategist, said the former president ignored advice from him and others that he should wait for more votes to come in. counted out before claiming victory.
When asked during his testimony if anyone was intoxicated during these conversations, Miller replied, “Mayor Giuliani.”
“The mayor was certainly drunk, but I don’t know his level of drunkenness when he spoke with the president, for example,” he said.
Stepien, the Trump campaign manager who was also in the conversation, also said in his deposition that Giuliani drank too much that night.
