During the 50th session of the Human Rights Council, participants analyzed in detail the violations of children’s rights in conflict areas and drew particular attention to the negative consequences of madrasas in indoctrination children – a violation of their right to education in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The meeting saw the presence of civil society organizations, journalists, experts, human rights activists, researchers, diplomats and panelists.

The debate was held at the Hotel Montbrillant-Cornavin, Geneva, on June 14, 2022, on the Promotion and Protection of Children’s Rights in Conflict Zones: Situation of Child Soldiers.
Other issues discussed at the meeting included the root causes of the recruitment and forced conscription of children in conflicts in Africa and Asia, primarily in the Sahel region of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, in the Central African Republic, Mali, Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Ukraine.

The council discussed serious child rights violations involving killing, recruitment, maiming or denial of humanitarian access.
The meeting underscored the importance of promoting good practices in the protection and reintegration of child soldiers.
The participants called for the adoption of a preventive strategy through monitoring, education, as well as the protection of schools during armed conflicts.

They also called for the popularization, through an awareness campaign, of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the implementation effective implementation of the Optional Protocol on the involvement of children. in armed conflict, and the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, according to the media portal.
They called for the strengthening of monitoring mechanisms and encouraged the development of networks of civil society organizations in the field of advocacy for the cause of children.
A decision to submit a written communication to the 51st session of the Human Rights Council, with a view to sensitizing Member States of the Council to integrate the issue of child protection into the Council’s debates.
