Hillary Clinton pulls out of rematch with Trump, says she won’t run in 2024

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said she will not run for president in 2024, ending speculation of a possible rematch with Donald Trump eight years later.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Clinton said she expects President Joe Biden to run for re-election and doesn’t want to stand in the way.

“No, out of the question,” she said when asked about 2024. “First of all, I expect Biden to run. He definitely intends to run . It would be very disruptive to challenge that.”

She spoke of the 2024 election in doomsday terms, saying democracy was at stake and “what doesn’t help you win shouldn’t be a priority.”

Although she pulled out of the race, Clinton seized the opportunity to take a shot at her former 2016 rival, suggesting financial gain would be the motive if Trump ran again.

“I think if he can, he’ll run again,” Clinton said. “Follow the money with Trump – he collected about $130 million from his bank account which he used to travel, to fund the organization against the election.

“I don’t know who will challenge him in the Republican primary,” she added.
