Heartbroken: Amber Heard ‘disappointed’ after Johnny Depp libel win

After a six-week libel trial, the Fairfax County Circuit Court jury in Virginia announced their verdict before the world. On Wednesday, the seven-member jury found that Amber Heard defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

After the court sided with Depp in the $50 million defamation case over a December 2018 op-ed in which Amber revealed she was a victim of domestic violence, the “Aquaman” actress left “heartbroken”.

Shortly after the jury closed the case, Heard said in a statement that she was disappointed “beyond words”

“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I am heartbroken that the mountain of evidence was still not enough to withstand the disproportionate power, influence and grip of my ex-husband”,

Moreover, she added, “I am even more disappointed in what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback… It pushes back the idea that violence against women women should be taken seriously”.
