After a six-week libel trial, the Fairfax County Circuit Court jury in Virginia announced their verdict before the world. On Wednesday, the seven-member jury found that Amber Heard defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
After the court sided with Depp in the $50 million defamation case over a December 2018 op-ed in which Amber revealed she was a victim of domestic violence, the “Aquaman” actress left “heartbroken”.

Shortly after the jury closed the case, Heard said in a statement that she was disappointed “beyond words”
“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I am heartbroken that the mountain of evidence was still not enough to withstand the disproportionate power, influence and grip of my ex-husband”,
Moreover, she added, “I am even more disappointed in what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback… It pushes back the idea that violence against women women should be taken seriously”.

The court awarded Dep, 58, $15 million in damages after finding that a 2018 article written by Heard about his experience of “sexual violence” was defamatory of Depp.
