Grammy-winning rapper Roddy Ricch arrested for firearm in New York

In a shocking turn of events, rapper Roddy Ricch was arrested Saturday night in New York City on a firearms charge. Two other men were also arrested along with the rapper. The incident comes days before her scheduled performance at the Governor’s Ball concert at Citi Field in New York City.

According to Deadline, Ricch, whose real name is Rodrick Moore, was driving in a 2020 Cadillac Escalade with two other men when they were stopped at a private security checkpoint at 6:20 p.m., just hours before the event.

Authorities said guards discovered a 9mm pistol and a magazine with nine rounds in the vehicle.

Ricc, a 23-year-old Los Angeles resident, was charged with felony possession of a firearm, possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeder, and possession of an illegal feeder. .

All of these offenses are significant in New York, with each count carrying a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, which can be increased if the offender is a felon.

Carlos Collins, 57, of New Jersey, and Michael Figueroa, 46, of Brooklyn, also face firearms charges.

In 2020, Ricch received a Grammy for Best Rap Performance. He was scheduled to perform at the event on Saturday night, as reported by Deadline.

The Governor’s Ball is organized by Founders Entertainment, a New York-based festival promotion company that also organizes the Meadows Music & Arts Festival.
