French Open: Novak Djokovic beats Schwartzman to enter the QF, Coco Gauff ousts Elise Mertens

Novak Djokovic’s title defense campaign continued with a smooth straight-set victory over Argentina’s No.15 seed Diego Schwartzman on Sunday as the world No.1 reached a 13th straight quarter-final at Roland -Garros. Djokovic improved to 16-0 in the fourth round here in Paris and awaits either Rafael Nadal or Felix Auger-Aliassime in the round of 16. The Serbian world number 1 beat Schwartzman 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the French Open quarter-final.

American teenager Coco Gauff clinched her ticket to the French Open quarter-finals for the second consecutive year thanks to an impressive 6-4, 6-0 elimination of Belgium’s Elise Mertens. The 18-year-old Florida native shouted out to the Miami Heat during the camera goal signing after their win, urging them to get the W over the Boston Celtics tonight in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals of the NBA.
