Rafael Nadal and world number 1 Novak Djokovic faced off in the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros 2022 on Wednesday June 1. After the clash, Indian tennis coach Enrico Piperno analyzed the high tension clash between Nadal-Djokovic and praised the former world number one.

With age not on his side and several fitness issues, the talk going around is that RAFA is planning to retire. In this regard, Piperno said, “What I’ve heard is that it’s his last year. That’s the kind of feeling that everyone gets. If he had a good year, he could say ‘why not, let’s continue one more time’. I think his intention is to quit, but that will be decided after the US Open.”
Nadal will then face Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals on Friday evening (June 3) to reserve a place in the final. The veteran will surely be aiming for his 14th French Open title and will take his Grand Slam total to 21. He had already won the first Grand Slam of the year, namely the Australian Open, in spectacular fashion against Daniil Medvedev.
