Trudeau’s positive test comes just days after his government announced it would suspend random COVID testing at Canadian airports for the rest of June to reduce long wait times for travel.

The ruling Liberals have been criticized for their ongoing pandemic restrictions, including banning unvaccinated people from air travel and imposing vaccination mandates on federal officials.

Earlier this year, anti-vaccine protesters took to the streets outside the Prime Minister’s Office and Canada’s Parliament Buildings, using hundreds of trucks and other vehicles to clog downtown Ottawa for three weeks .
