‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’, the gripping, multi-award-winning blockbuster, is now streaming in India

This inspiring story of a young dreamer, set to music by Elton John, has captivated audiences around the world and fearlessly shattered gender stereotypes. And now it’s in India.

Zee Theater presents ‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’, an internationally acclaimed coming-of-age story to the tunes of Sir Elton John, on Indian television. Based on a hit 2000 film, the musical is set in a dreary English mining town against the backdrop of the 1984 miners’ strike. The story goes on to trace the inspirational journey of a young boy who chooses ballerina shoes over boxing gloves and defies gender norms to follow her heart. He refuses to give up even in the face of his father’s disapproval and begins to secretly prepare for an audition at the Royal Ballet School. Along the way, this passion for dance not only transforms her life, but also inspires her community to dream bigger.

‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’ is directed by Stephen Daldry and Brett Sullivan and stars Elliot Hanna, Ruthie Henshall and Deka Walmsley.
It will be screened at the Tata Play Theater on June 12 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
