The IPL 2022 edition came to a fitting end on Sunday night (May 29) when Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium , Ahmedabad to win their first title in their first ever IPL season.

The 15th season of the IPL was a special affair, which featured two more teams – Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and eventual winners Gujarat. It saw as many as 74 games played in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Ahmedabad and was a hugely successful season, with few Covid-19 hurdles as all ten teams produced emphatic contests.

While players, support staff, commentators and organizers were hailed, BCCI led by Sourav Ganguly won hearts by awarding ‘unsung heroes’, i.e. gardeners and curators for their overall efforts to ensure the best quality pitches and pitches have been prepared for the players.
