Europe’s largest economy succumbs, Germany declares recession

Germany has entered recession after its economy contracted in the first three months of 2023, marking the second quarter of contraction, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.

Gross domestic product (GDP) in Europe's largest economy fell 0.3% between January and March. It follows a 0.5% decline in Germany in the last quarter of 2022.
