Meta, Facebook’s parent company, Fined $1.3 Billion for EU Data Transfers

Meta, Facebook's parent company, has been fined a record €1.2 billion for transferring user data from the EU to the US in violation of a court ruling. The Irish regulator concluded that Meta had failed to address the risks highlighted in an earlier judgment from the Court of Justice of the European Union. It is the third fine imposed on the social media giant in 2021 and the fourth in six months. Meta has committed to modifying its terms of use in Europe to continue collecting and processing personal data. More
